The winner of this year’s Bayshore Broadcasting Malcolm Kirk Award for the Environment will be announced at a special presentation this evening in Hanover.
This will be the second time the award has been handed out by Bayshore Broadcasting to a person making a significant contribution to the environment.
The award is named after Malcolm Kirk who brought thousands of acres of Southern Georgian Bay coastline and escarpment vistas into public ownership.
There are two people nominated for this years award.
Bruce Davidson is a Walkerton environmentalist who has been involved in efforts to educate people about the importance of clean safe drinking water.
The second nominee is Merle Gundy — who has been actively involved in the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority Arboretum Alliance and educating young people about Forest Stewardship.
Last year’s winner was Dave Wedge of Southampton for organizing harbour clean ups in Tobermory and Port Elgin.
The award will be handed out following a 100 mile dinner at the P and H Centre in Hanover.
