There’s growing discontentment among parents with the Grey Bruce school bus transportation consortium.
Phil Hunt is one of a number of parents up in arms over the loss of in town bussing for 18 students in Durham’s north west end.
Hunt says since the in-town bussing was stopped — students are now forced to cross a busy section of Highway 4 just as Durham Furniture employees leave work at 3:30 PM.
Those attending St. Peter’s and Paul’s also have to negotiate Grey Road 27 which lacks sidewalks and is on a steep hill.
Hunt claims there have already been two close calls, and he’s afraid something serious will happen soon.
After failed attempts to rectify the problem with the Transportation Consortium, Hunt has now taken his fight to the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board.
Trustee Chair Norm Bethune says the School Board will look into the matter immediately.
Hunt says blowing snow, icy conditions and high snow banks will only compound the problem.
