The Ministry of Education is cutting a 900 thousand dollar cheque for Owen Sounds St. Basil’s School.
The money will be used to fund an addition to the school to house the full day kindergarten learning program.
Superintendent of Business Cathy Colton says the small addition will include three new classrooms and one extra auxiliary space.
Colton is excited about the project and says work will get underway soon.
She says it’s first a matter of finalizing the plans before any ground breaking will occur.
The new addition will be complete for the 2011 School year.
Currently Hanover’s Holy Family and Mildmay’s Sacred Heart are the only two schools within the Catholic Board to offer full day every day kindergarten learning.
Colton expects St. Basil’s parents to be pleased that the program is coming to their school next Fall.
