Recently we heard recently reports surrounding a Mother Against Drunk Driving campaign to lower drinking and driving thresholds, well it seems that report isn’t all that recent.
CAO of MADD Canada Andy Murie tells Bayshore Broadcasting News that issue was resolved four years ago, he says they’re on to new initiatives now.
Murie tells us the big debate now within the province is garnering support for random breath testing.
The federal justice minister issued a report back in June 2009 that included support for random breath testing.
Just last week the federal justice minister took that report to the provincial justice ministers, where there was good support shown to move forward with introducing new legislation.
Murie says they are just now waiting to see what the proposed legislation would be and are expecting to see something back before winter.
