A clean bill of health for the Hanover and District Hospital.
The hospital has been awarded a three year Accreditation.
The Accreditation status simply means the Hanover and District Hospital is meeting or exceeding national and international benchmarks for a hospital of its size.
The accreditation was conducted by Accreditation Canada, an independent national accreditation body that rated the hospital on everything from patient care to record keeping.
CEO Katrina Wilson says the Hospital received top marks for cleanliness, management and a positive relationship between staff and patients.
Strong communication skills, good policies and procedures as well as patient satisfaction were also noted in the report.
However there was also one area for improvement — and that involved the Hospital’s overall safety picture.
Wilson says the Hospital may have small safety and risk management committees — but it needs a bigger program at the board level.
Wilson is overall happy with the report as it highlights the positive relationship between the hospital and its patients.
Wilson says accreditation is a volunteer program that keeps hospital moving forward in a progressive manner, keeping up with state of the art standards.
