The Farm Credit Canada’s Drive Away Hunger program raised over 1.7 million pounds of food this year.
The annual program involved 4 weeks of collection and it came to an end last Friday after accumulating products all across Canada.
Over 280 thousand pounds of food was collected in Ontario to help 342 different food banks in the province.
Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz feels the FCC Drive Away Hunger program creates awareness of hunger and brings communities together in support of the cause.
Since it’s beginning in 2004 — the program has accumulated over 5 million pounds of food for food banks in Canada.
