It was a journey of challenges but the end was realized Friday afternoon, according to Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer.
It was all part of the grand opening of the Kincardine Community Centre, Phase Two.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted at the 2.3-million dollar facility, next to the Kincardine Hospital.
The new addition has 16 new exam rooms, plus office space for doctors.
However, Doctor Gary Gurbin who spearheaded the expansion move years ago says they finally got it right this time.
They have come up with an attractive facility that gives doctors a place to work so they may provide the health services needed in the community.
Gurbin alluded to the fact that if the facility had not been built, Kincardine was in peril of losing more doctors.
He says now they have a body of physicians that will work in the emergency room of the hospital as well as the clinic.
Kincardine mayor Larry Kraemer says the facility is already paying dividends.
The community now has an application approved for a family health team which can be accomodated in the new clinic.
Representatives from council, the medical community and senior levels of government were on hand for the opening.
