Queens Park is moving to make hospitals and universities more accountable and the head of Grey Bruce health services welcomes the change.
The McGuinty government is moving to have CEO’s and senior management at Ontario hospitals and universities, post their expenses online.
It is the latest initiative by the government to put the public sector on a shorter leash and rein in spending abuses.
It follows the auditor General’s report this week that criticized the use of consultants in the health care field, without sending the job to tender first.
President and CEO of Grey Bruce Health Services, Maureen Solecki, says GBHS uses very few consultants and when they do, the contract does go to tender.
Meanwhile, Solecki isn’t concerned about posting her expenses on-line.
She says all her expenses are approved by the board chair and usually relate to conferences and meetings she attends.
Solecki says the OHA revised it’s guideline on expenses and the local hospitals are following that policy.
