The Kincardine Scottish Festival and the municipality of Kincardine are parting company.
Festival chair Dave McFarlane spoke to Kincardine council on Wednesday night thanking the municipality for its support and management in past years.
McFarlane told councillors the festival will be officially incorporated on October 28th and that means it becomes a stand-alone event.
He says there are advantages to incorporating the festival.
He says they won’t have to submit a budget to the municipality next year nor be managed by a town committee.
McFarlane emphasizes that the move is strictly a change in management.
Festival goers should see no change at all.
McFarlane says in the past the festival committee had to abide by the town’s bylaws and it’s been difficult at times.
He says it will make it easier for the festival to control its own budget which last year was pegged at 160 thousand dollars.
