Listen closely — right around 10:30 AM on Thursday — you might hear a great big crunch ringing through the air of Grey and Bruce.
For the second year — the Grey Bruce Eat and Learn program is running the great big crunch.
Promoter Bev Gateman says it is when 32 participating schools across the region all bite into apples at the same time.
Gateman says when asked why — why not is her response.
Gateman says apples are natures fast food, they are healthy and this is a great way to promote the healthy snack with our children and doing something together as a community.
The apples are — for the most part — from the Grey Bruce area and are from local growers.
Gateman says our children are still low on consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables so this is also a way to promote how fun it can be to eat an apple.
She encourages all of us at 10:30 AM Thursday to take a big bite out of an apple and a big bite into a healthy lifestyle.
