The five candidates running for Mayor in South Bruce Peninsula debated everything from making council work better, to Sauble sewers to the future of the Wiarton Airport on the CFOS Open Line on Monday.
Paul Deacon says better communication is needed for council to function better.
John Close feels councillors should be allowed more flexibility to deal with issues they feel are important.
Len Chabot says listening is important, while Jim Kerr felt the Mayor should be more of a mediator.
Incumbent Gwen Gilbert feels there should be more training for council.
All of the Candidates feel the Wiarton airport is an asset that is underutilized by the municipality and any offer to purchase it will be closely looked at.
Jim Kerr feels if the airport cant make a profit then council should consider getting rid of it.
John Close feels the airport should be further developed with help from co owner Georgian Bluffs.
Paul Deacon says he is not in favour of selling the facility, but working hard to further develop its potential.
As for the issue of Sauble Beach sewers, Gwen Gilbert says the should complete the project they have funding for.
The other candidates also feel the downtown core needs sewers, but the project has to be done at a reasonable cost for the affected tax payers.
