After months of hard work, the town of Hanover has completed its strategic plan.
The strategic plan document identifies 29 action plans in which 12 have been labelled as high priority.
CAO Mike Dunlop says the high priority items will be implemented within the next year or two, while the rest will be rolled out over the next 5 years.
He say the Strategic Plan provides Hanover with a long term vision, serving as a guide for the municipality over the next 10 years.
A need for a more diverse economy, a broader range of job opportunities, stronger partnerships and more regional cooperation around economic development are included in the plan.
Hanover’s progressive attitude, small town charm and regional shopping centre appeal are all listed as characteristics to protect and retain.
Top priorities include: expanding Hanovers economic development opportunities, taking on a downtown beautification project, creating a Cultural Plan and undertaking a Seniors Recreation Needs Study.
The Strategic Plan is a first for Hanover.
Dunlop says the plan will also ensure that municipal visions, goals and policies tie in with this new direction.
