A successful first run for the “Pretty in Pink 5K Your Way” event in Saugeen Shores.
Yesterday’s fun run raised about eight thousand dollars in online pledges and donations collected at Port Elgin’s North Shore Park.
And the event managed to pick up an official corporate sponsor for next year’s event.
Running shoe maker, Brooks, has signed on.
In all, somewhere around 60 to 80 people of all ages participated in the run, walk, bike or blade event.
The fun run, which is in its inaugural year, is a pre-cursor to next weekend’s Pretty in Pink event.
It takes place Sunday October 24th at the Lakeshore Recreation Centre in Port Elgin from 11 AM until 4 PM.
The annual event is a day of fun, food, fashion and friendship, and tickets are already sold out.
Last year’s event raised 10 thousand dollars.
