Some new blood has taken over the reigns of the Georgian Bay Folk Society.
At a board meeting this week, a new executive was selected including a new President.
Ruth Parsons takes over following the resignation of Brenda Scott.
Scott had been a long time President of the Georgian Bay Folk Society, but left to deal with some lingering health issues.
She had been a volunteer with the organization since 1982 and has been a member of the board off and on since 1987.
The first Vice President of the Folk Society is Phil Bye, and the second Vice President is Derek Sparnaay.
The new appointments take effect immediately.
One of the biggest events held each year by the Georgian Bay Folk Society is the Summerfolk festival which draws top name artists and fans from all over the world to Owen Sound.
The Georgian Bay Folk Society, a not for profit organization, has promoted folk music through concerts, dances, and Summerfolk for three decades and counting.
