Kincardine council was stymied but what one could call the lame duck syndrome when it came to dealing with recommendations about the make-up of the next Bruce Telecom committee.
It appears the governance committee of Bruce Telecom came forward with recommendations regarding the succession process.
In all five recommendations were made but councillors were a little leary about further recommendling the results to a council that isn’t in office yet and one that could change the recommendations.
Mayor Larry Kraemer says he’s baffled why council didn’t approve since the issue has history with the same thing happening to the current council when they were elected four years ago.
Because of the vote Wednesday night — Kraemer says it’s the Bruce Telecom governance committee that will make the recommendations to the incoming council.
He calls that “a little unusual.”
Meanwhile, Councillor Guy Anderson says council is a lame duck one and feels they should be making recommendations to an incoming council.
However he has no problem with the governance committee of Bruce Telecom making the suggestions to the new council.
However, the current council did approve the appointment of residents Holly Robinson-Colley; Richard Martin and Doug Hunter to 4-year terms on the Bruce Telecom board.
Tom Scott and Barry Schmidt have two year terms.
