It’s not everyday a municipal employee saves a life, but that is why Brockton is paying tribute to staff member Genevieve Scharback.
In June, Scharback put her CPR and First Aid training into action after an individual suffered a heart attack near the municipal building.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato witnessed the event and says he was blown away by her quick action and skill, which doctors confirm saved the individuals life.
Bagnato says the event brings home the importance of CPR training for staff.
Scharback agrees; she says like insurance, First Aid training is something everyone should have and hopefully never need to use.
Scharback also serves as an instructor with St. John’s Ambulance in Hanover.
She also provides the CPR and First Aid training to all Brockton municipal staff.
In recognition of Scharback’s actions, the municipality presented her with a plaque to commemorate her good deed.
