The South Grey Bruce Youth Literacy Council (SGBYLC) has received a 50 thousand dollar grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
It’s a two year grant that will go towards community outreach and volunteer programs as well as the hiring of Volunteer Coordinator Lynette Jones.
The Literacy Council is the only service provider of free learning support for youth between ages 6 to 18 in southern Grey and Bruce.
Youth Literacy Chair Harvey McFadden says the funding will allow them to continue to provide one-on-one tutoring for youth in the region.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch believes improved literacy and increased education will help with children’s self esteem.
