Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty says the Huron Perth Children’s Aid Society is too important to close.
The organization — which serves almost 450 families each month — told reporters Thursday it’s not getting enough money from the province and will have to shut down December 15th.
McGuinty says his government intends to find a way to support the society.
Huron Perth CAS officials tell Bayshore Broadcasting News the funding formula is flawed, and has left it with a projected 1.3-million dollar deficit and a debt approaching a-million dollars.
That’s despite deep program and staff cuts over the past year.
CAS officials are meeting with the provincial government Friday
