It’s Fire Prevention Week and there is an open house in Hanover tonight.
The Hanover Fire Department is holding an open house from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM tonight.
Fire Chief Ken Roseborough invites the public to drop by the station meet the firefighters and take a tour of the Fire Station.
The public can also try out a simulated fire extinguisher, try on the fire gear and take in a hazard house demonstration.
Roseborough says this hands on approach to fire prevention education is a big hit for all ages.
The fire trucks, tankers and specialized equipment will also be on display.
Roseborough says residents can also ask questions of firefighters.
Elementary school children are reminded to bring their Great Escape plans outlining how they would escape their home in the event of a fire.
Each child that brings his or her safety plan to the open house will receive a free McDonalds Happy Meal coupon provided by McDonalds.
As part of Fire Prevention week — you are reminded to change the batteries in smoke detector and ensure the family has a fire escape plan.
