The Bluewater District School Board is prepared to fight a 35 million dollar lawuit against it.
The issue didn’t come up at the regular board meeting last night but it was on the minds of media covering the meeting.
Board chair Jennifer Yenssen says the issue has been turned over to the board’s insurer, the Ontario Public School Boards Insurance Exchange.
Yenssen says the exchange will be defending against the allegations of the parents of four students within the system.
They allege there has been bullying involving other students, but also teachers at several school over the past five years.
Yenssen says there will be no public statement from the board until its legal advisors say it can be done.
How it will be done remains a question as well.
However, the chair doesn’t expect any other reaction from the board until after November 30th, and she’ll be retired then, having not run for re-election this year.
