The Kincardine Chamber of Commerce is trying to help local businesses prepare for some changes in practice.
New government customer service standards come into effect January 1st, 2012, with a number of new guidelines to abide by.
An accessibility workshop will be held tomorrow at noon. Representatives from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce will be guiding business owners through workshops to help them understand the new standards, and what will be required to comply with them.
Spokesperson Louie DiPalma says a big focus is on accessibility and how businesses interact with people who have disabilities.
He says business owners will have to develop a set of policies and practices for providing goods and services to those with disabilities.
DiPalma says it can be confusing, and the Chamber also wants to let businesses know what it’s doing to help companies understand the guidelines and the tools available.
Business owners can register for Wednesday’s session by calling the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce.
