The latest in a series of books about local political icon Agnes Macphail has been launched.
Macphail is known for being Canada’s first woman Member of Parliament.
Author Donna Mann along with her publisher Brucedale Press held a book launch event at the Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute on Thursday night.
“Aggie’s Dream” follows Mann’s first work titled “Aggie’s Storms.”
“Aggie’s Dream” chronicles the life of Agnes Macphail in her teenage years whereas the first book was mainly about Macphail’s early life.
Mann says she wants today’s generation to know about the impact Macphail has on our daily lives as Canadians, from her work on prison reform, peace advocacy, standing up for the farmers across Canada, and speaking for those who did not otherwise have a voice of their own.
Mann says the book is aimed at readers Grade six and up, however she says the book will also appeal to adults.
She adds there will likely be a third instalment in the series, but would not confirm that.
