Many families are going to celebrate a happy Thanksgiving this year.
The 13th annual Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling food drive collected just over 83-hundred pounds of food this year.
That’s just shy of last year’s collection of 86-hundred pounds of food.
The food has all been brought to the Salvation Army in Wiarton, which will distribute the food to various food banks throughout Bruce County.
Those communities include Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, South Bruce, Bruce Peninsula, Brockton, Arran Elderslie and Huron-Kinloss.
The drive was held over two weeks and wrapped up September 24th.
Residents were asked to put out non-perishable food donations alongside their blue boxes on recycling day.
