West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound Ontario has received a generous donation from a former graduate.
President of Kuhl Machine Shop, Dave Kuhl, has donated over 55 thousand dollars worth of equipment specifically for the machine shop.
Principal Dan Hobler says it updates most of the shop and includes a vertical milling machine.
Kuhl graduated in 1982 with a passion for the trades which developed into his motivation to build-up his one person shop to a large regional operation.
Kuhl hopes the donation will provide students with opportunities in skilled trades.
Kuhl believes it’s a way to inspire young people to think seriously about the careers available as a skilled trades person.
Tim Wise, West Hill’s Manufacturing Department teacher, says the upgraded equipment will prepare students for the Skills Competition this year.
