The Bruce nuclear generating station is the site of a large gathering of companies that supply the Canadian Nuclear Industry.
About 75 large and small corporations are displaying their wares at the Tiverton nuclear site today.
Doctor Neil Alexander is the President of the Organization of Candu Industries.
He says this is an excellent time for Bruce Power to see what changes are occurring in the technology that is involved in Nuclear.
He says the companies range in size from the massive engineering company SC Lavilin — all the way down to one person companies that supply the industry.
Doctor Alexander says worldwide, more than 50 new reactors are under construction and he hopes that the Ontario Government will change its mind about new nuclear builds in this province.
He says until the restructuring of Atomic Energy of Canada is completed, there probably wont be any decisions made about any new builds.
Meanwhile, Doctor Alexander says the refurbishment of the Bruce A reactors is providing not just an economic boom to the Bruce County area, but to the nuclear industry as well.
He says the success of this project proves the critics wrong who say that nuclear has only a limited lifespan.
