The town of Hanover is throwing financial support behind three local athletes competing in the World Kickboxing Championships in Serbia this month.
Phillip McDonald, Josh Cote and Shalyn Sulkye are among the twenty young Canadians representing our nation in the competition.
Hanover Mayor Kathi Maskell says it’s wonderful to have three youth represent Hanover in such an international manner.
In support of their expensive trip, the town of Hanover has donated 900 dollars to each resident to pay for their three thousand dollar trip.
Maskell says it takes a great deal of self discipline and determination to get where these three young people are.
She says Hanover’s financial support is just a small way of showing their support to these talented athletes.
Maskell is sure whatever the outcome, all three youth will serve as wonderful ambassadors for Hanover and do the community proud.
Over sixty countries and fifteen-hundred athletes are participating in the Serbia World Kickboxing Championships.
