A police officer is facing charges in connection with a car crash just outside Owen Sound in the summer.
Grey county OPP say they have wrapped up a thorough investigation of a crash August 20th on County Road 18, just south of the Springmount intersection.
In the crash, an officer was following a van on County Road 18 when the driver of the van swerved to miss two cyclists on the roadway.
When the officer came up on the same cyclists he tried to avoid one, swerved and went off the road into the ditch.
No one was injured in the collision.
The 46-year-old Sergeant with 26 years policing experience has been charged with Following Too Closely contrary to Section 158 of the Highway Traffic Act.
He is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound Provincial Court on the 18th of October to answer to the charge.
