The Hanover Racetrack will be aglow with candles this evening as more than 400 people participate in the town’s 5th annual Relay for Life event.
Event co-chair Vicky Boyington says it’s a night to celebrate, remember and fight back as men, women and children join together in the fight against cancer.
The 12 hour event runs from 7 PM till 7 AM tomorrow.
Boyington expects about 45 teams to participate — and she hopes this year’s fundraiser will surpass last year’s fundraising success of 93 thousand dollars.
Over the last four years — the Hanover Relay for Life event has managed to raise more than 600 thousand dollars.
Monies raised will go to support the Canadian Cancer Society as well as assist local families battling cancer.
It is the last Relay event in Grey Bruce.
