It’s been a busy week for the Hanover and District Hospital.
The hospital is undergoing a two day Accreditation process by the Canadian Council on Health Service Accreditation.
The independent national accreditation body rates the hospital on everything from patient care to record keeping.
The process included a tour of the Hospital, a review of the books and interviews with staff, patients, hospital board members as well as neighbouring hospital officials.
CEO Katrina Wilson admits the process is a lot of work — but she notes it also offers some distinct advantages.
She says accreditation keeps the hospital moving forward in a progressive manner, keeping up with state of the art standards.
The recommendations and suggestions coming out of the report also provide the Hospital with valuable insight on how it can improve itself.
Wilson says the overall findings also serve as a measuring stick enabling the Hospital to compare itself to other hospitals of similar size.
She adds a high score would also showcase the hospital’s quality care and efficiency to the province in the hopes of gaining performance based funding.
The results of the Hanover and District Hospitals Accreditation process will be released in early November.
