A big donation has been received by the fundraising committee for the Regional Rec Centre in Owen Sound.
100 thousand dollars is being donated by a local law firm — Kirby, Robinson, Treslan and Conlan Corporation.
John Kirby says it is the first time, that the four partners have combined their effort to make a collaborative donation to a fund raising effort, and they wanted to make a significant one.
Kirby says the “Y” plays an important role in the community and the rec centre will be a vital part in the future of Owen Sound.
He feels it is the kind of infrastructure, that people looking to relocate would look for in a community.
Co-chair of the Fundraising committee Tom Rice, says this is a pace setting gift and he urged other businesses to step up and donate.
Rice says they have reached 1.7 million dollars of the 5 million dollar goal.
He also is pleased to announce that the facility is now rising out of the ground on 10th street east.
Rice says the walls on the 38.6 million dollar project have started to go up… which is great news for supporters.
