Organizers of the Terry Fox run in Owen Sound are pleased with the turnout for this year’s event.
Co-ordinator Scott Greig says the 30th annual event brought out about 200 participants on Sunday.
Greig says they collected around 18,500 dollars during the Terry Fox run this year, and that number could climb to 19 thousand dollars once all the on-line pledges are collected.
He says both the number of participants, and the amount of money raised is consistant with last year (2009).
The run has been taking place in Owen Sound since 1984 and has generated more than a quarter of a million dollars in funding for cancer research.
The Owen Sound Terry Fox run was one of 15 held throughout Grey Bruce and Simcoe Counties over the weekend.
There are also Terry Fox runs in Kincardine, Saugeen Shores, Tobermory, Lion’s Head, Wiarton, Hanover, Walkerton, Durham, Meaford, Collingwood and Badjeros.
