Over 10 thousand dollars was raised at this year’s Terry Fox Run in Kincardine.
Organizer Jane Benny says that brings Kincardine’s total to just under 150 thousand dollars since 1994.
And her daughters did their fair share of fundraising, bringing in 22 hundred dollars between the two of them. (Christine – $1500; Sarah – $700)
Two cyclists also biked 160 kilometres, raising a combined four thousand dollars.
Benny says the event, which has run for 30 years across Canada, has been phenomenal, and she’s happy that people have come out year after year to show their support.
She says Terry Fox has transformed cancer research, and this run has now raised over 500 million dollars in 30 countries.
Over a thousand cancer research projects are funded in Canada by the money raised.
