Owen Sound Council will learn more about its draft Transportation Master Plan tonight .
Consultants HDR / iTRANS will unveil the City’s overall transportation strategy.
It consists of over 25 recommendations intended to shape the city’s transportation system over the next twenty-five years.
The overall transportation plan focuses on making use of existing infrastructure more efficiently while optimizing the road network.
Several of the recommendations in the plan are aimed at establishing strong cycling and pedestrian linkages throughout the city.
A traffic claiming policy has also been developed to help with issues such as speeding, high volumes and truck traffic on local residential roadways.
Related alternatives are examined along the city’s key transportation corridors including 10th Street, 9th Avenue East and 16th Street East and recommendations are included in the plan.
The public is invited to attend the meeting which begins at 4 PM at City Hall in the Council Chambers.
There will be a formal thirty-minute presentation followed by a question and answer period.
