NDP supporters in Huron-Bruce have elected their candidate for the next Federal election.
At a party meeting in Goderich on Thursday night — NDP Leader Jack Layton threw his support behind Grant Robertson.
Robertson is a farmer from the Paisley area and has spent the last five years working with the National Farmers Union.
Robertson says his priorities will surround healthcare and pharmacare, economic development and job creation, agriculture and food issues as well as seniors and pensions.
Jack Layton says Robertson is the right man for the job, due to his experience across the country and his roots in Huron-Bruce.
He says the Conservatives want to divide rural and urban Canada, while the NDP want to build bridges.
Layton says people know that they’ll have a voice for the riding in Robertson, instead of a puppet from Stephen Harper.
