It’s going to roar like the 1920’s in Saugeen Shores this weekend.
The 16th annual Canadian Big Band Celebration takes place this weekend, kicking off tonight with Friday Night Jazz.
Shuttle buses start rolling at 8 PM, and different bands will be performing at venues throughout Port Elgin and Southampton.
Organizer Charlie Bell says there are eight live bands in total playing jazz and blues.
A ten dollar passport can be purchased and you can get into any of the venues with it.
But he says the Big Event takes place tomorrow.
There will be two shows put on at the CAW Family Education Centre at the south end of Port Elgin.
The afternoon program begins at 12:45 PM, and the evening program starts at 6:45 PM.
Performers for Saturday include the Toronto All Star Big Band, the Georgian Sound Big Band, and the infamous Stardust Big Band.
Bell says it’s a magical night, where the hall transforms and becomes reminiscent of the dance pavillions that were around in the 20’s and 30’s.
He says the event usually attracts anywhere from 300 to 400 people each year.
Sunday’s events include a Jazz Brunch at the CAW Dining Room.
