Three men have been fined a total of 21 thousand dollars for fishing for walleye in a fish sanctuary.
Joesph Andruski of Tiverton, Matthew Andruski of Walkerton and Neal Girodat of Hanover each pleaded guilty to fishing in a fish sanctuary, fishing for walleye during the closed season, and catching and retaining walleye during the closed season.
On April 5th, 2010 — a Conservation officer was patrolling near the Highway 7A fish Sanctuary near Port Perry.
He found two large bags of live walleye, and soon found the three men hiding with their fishing rods in some long grass nearby.
Each man was fined seven thousand dollars and had their fishing equipment seized.
