As Bruce County residents put out their recycling these next two weeks, they’re reminded to set out some donations for the food bank as well.
Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling’s 13th Annual Food Drive is taking place starting Monday, September 13th.
General Manager Vince Cascone says it’s been a successful drive in the past 12 years, getting bigger every year.
Last year, he says they pulled in 86-hundred pounds of food, or 4.3 tonnes.
All of the donations stay within local food banks.
Cascone is hoping to collect more this time around.
It’s easy to donate, all you have to do is leave bags or boxes of non-perishable food items next to your blue bins all of this week and next.
Cascone says they’ll collect it when they get your recycling, and they’ll hit every part of Bruce County.
The food drive wraps up on September 24th.
