Its a combo of oats and potatoes and its called Pratie Oaten.
The return of Pratie Oaten going on this Saturday at Grey Roots Museum and Archives near Owen Sound.
Petal Furness — the Heritage Interpretation Supervisor — says the event comes as a result of the Celtic Festival in Owen Sound being cancelled and the Celtic Society donating a thousand dollars to the museum.
Furness says the the name comes from an irish food that tastes similar to hash browns and is a combination of oats and potatoes.
The event features a highland dance competition, musical entertainment and the entire Moreston Village will also be open.
Furness says at the time of settlement there was a strong celtic population in Grey and Bruce and that is where the interest in this type of festival comes from.
The event runs from 9 AM until 5 PM and is included in the admission for Grey Roots.
