Today is the last day for people to file their nomination papers to run in October’s municipal election.
But there is no shortage of candidates in Owen Sound.
A fourth resident has filed papers to run for Mayor.
Jerry Gordon Bates will run against incumbent Ruth Lovell Stanners, Councillor Deb Haswell and community advocate Ray Botten for the Mayor’s office.
There are now 14 candidates running for the City Council positions.
Former Mayor Rick Beaney filed his nomination papers Thursday to run for Council along with newcomers Les Coleman, Brian Gibbons and Brent Jeffries.
Incumbents Bill Twaddle, Peter Lemon, David Adair and Jim McManaman are also running for re-election.
Other names on the ballot so far include Ian Boddy, Andy McCaffrey, Sharon McKeachnie, Mike Moore, Scott Greig and Jan Chamberlain.
Arlene Wright is still the only candidate for City County Councillor.
The deadline is 2 PM Friday for people to file nomination papers or change their minds about running in October’s municipal election.
