A scare for some Owen Sound residents.
Not one but two bears were spotted in the Scenic City yesterday.
Police officers were armed with guns walking the streets and warning residents and children at schools and daycares to stay indoors.
A small bear near Dufferin School around 10:30 AM and the 15 pound bear was spotted at the top of a tree in the 11 hundred block of 2nd Avenue West.
The Ministry of Natural Resources was called — officers rescued the bear and released it back into the wild near the Pottawatomi River.
But police received calls about a larger bear around 4:30 PM yesterday at 11th and 12th Street West and 2nd Avenue West.
Police believe it was the mother looking for her cub.
The bear was never found and the MNR and Police believe she made her way back out of the City to the west.
