It’s time for the country to come to town once again as the 158th annual Owen Sound Fall Fair kicks off this afternoon at 4 PM.
Once again, this years edition has a bit of everything for everybody according to the President of the Owen Sound Agricultural Society, Phil Bye.
He says the fair kicks off this evening with special pricing for the midway, then the real action begins on Friday with the 4-H calf show as well as the the Regional Invitational 4-H heifer show for both beef and dairy.
Bye says these are very important events for the young people as the winners of these competitions will move on the big event, which is the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto later this fall.
Saturday the 4-H sheep show gets underway and there is a miniature horse show as well.
He also says there will be displays of quilts and produce in the coliseum.
Bye says besides the agricultural component the Fall Fair also has a lot of entertainment for visitors.
Two of the more popular events, the Truck and Tractor Pull and Demolition Derby, are back as well.
The antique tractor pull goes Saturday morning with the Great Lakes sanctioned tractor and truck pull on Friday night.
Again this year, the fair wrap up will be the massive Demolition Derby Saturday night in front of the grandstand.
Bye says the good news this year is that admission prices for the fair remain the same as last year with no increase.
The family pass goes for 25 dollars, and Friday and Saturday Adults get in for 12 dollars and children for 5 dollars.
