Saugeen Shores has a race for mayor–the first one in seven years.
Thursday morning — Councillor Victoria Serda filed her nomination papers, challenging incumbent Mike Smith for the top post.
Serda says she wants to the voice for the community.
She says her main issue is making the municipal government more accessible to both citizens and business.
Serda says she’s always had a concern about the municipal communication with the general public.
She says she wants to make everyone part of the decision-making process in Saugeen Shores.
Serda says she has a campaign team set up and she looks forward to meeting the people and discussing the issues.
Serda has served one four-year term as councillor in the Port Elgin ward.
Serda is no stranger to politics.
She has served as the Ontario deputy leader for the Green Party in the past.
She’s also run unsuccessfully in the last federal and provincial elections.
