Life jackets are credited with saving the lives of three people who ended up in Lake Huron when their 16 foot catamaran flipped south of Sauble Beach.
The incident happened Monday afternoon, and a couple from Toronto and a third person from the Guelph area couldn’t get the craft back up.
Fortunately, someone on short spotted the problem and called in the emergency.
Bruce Peninsula OPP Constable Dave Meyer says a Coast Guard boat out of Southampton found the three people clinging to the vessel, wearing their life jackets.
No one required medical attention.
However, police say if the trio were not wearing their life jackets the outcome may have been different.
Constable Meyer says there have been a number of incidents on Lake Huron this summer where people survived because they were wearing life jackets.
