Four more people have decided to run for Owen Sound Council — and two of them are current council members.
David Adair and Jim McManaman both filed their nomination papers on Tuesday and will again seek City Council seats.
Newcomers Jan Chamberlain and Scott Greig are also seeking seats on Council.
Greig — the co-owner of Runner’s Den — is running for Council again after losing by only 30 votes in the 2003 election.
Chamberlain — who operates Memory Garden Retreats Bed and Breakfast — is known as a community volunteer who currently serves on doctor recruitment committee.
Adair has served four full terms on council and parts of two others, finishing third in the popular vote in 2006.
He feels veteran leadership on Council will be much needed as the city moves forward with massive infrastructure projects like the Regional Recreation Centre and the waste treatment plant upgrades.
Adair works as the general manager of the Georgian Bay Symphony.
Adair’s Council work includes the Chairmanship of the ad hoc fire services committee and membership on the police services board.
Adair says he’s very concerned about police and fire costs that represent more than half of Owen Sound’s entire budget.
McManaman was first elected in 2003 and re-elected in 2006 when he topped the polls, and also has a desire to see through major infrastructure projects.
McManaman takes pride in his hard work on behalf of the city and his knowledge of its operations.
A firefighter who works in Toronto, McManaman still manages to spend time in the city and working on his various civic duties — such as Chair of the high-profile regional rec centre steering committee and the recreation and parks advisory committee.
Ten people are currently seeking city council seats.
The others include incumbents Bill Twaddle and Peter Lemon — and newcomers Ian Boddy, Andy McCaffrey, Sharon McKeachnie and Mike Moore.
Incumbents John Christie and Tom Pink have announced they will not run again.
Several other people are rumoured to be considering throwing their hats in the ring before the nomination deadline on Friday at 2 PM.
