Damage to the Pine River Cheese and Butter Co-op is not yet fully known after a fire broke out at the Ripley factory.
Office Manager, Cathy Hall, tells Bayshore Broadcasting News she was called to the scene just after 7 PM on Tuesday.
Fire crews were on site and worked until about 10:30 PM to extinguish the flames.
They believe the fire started behind the milk bay and mostly damaged the back.
Fire Services do not believe the blaze was suspicious and police have left the scene.
The Fire Marshal has indicated they will not attend.
Damage estimates are not known at this time.
Pine River Cheese was created back in 1885 and has evolved into a large co-op with a focus on quality cheese.
