Changes are happening at the Bluewater Board of education that could result in more public input.
Chair Jennifer Yenssen says Ministry of Education advisor Geoff Williams and Communications consultant Ross Parry, both wanted the board to move to evening meetings.
The Bluewater board has been reviewing its’ operations for the past year to try and improve communication with parents.
Yenssen says the board decided to accept the recommendations and will now hold two meetings per month instead of one, and the meetings move from 1 PM to 7 PM.
The first new session will be tonight — and the board will now meet on the 1st and third Tuesday of each month.
Yenssen says changing to evening meetings could mean more parents will run for trustee positions.
At the same time, delegations that were given 30 minutes before the board to make their presentations, will now get 20 minutes twice per month.
New limits will be imposed on how many times a group can appear on the same issue.
