The MP for Huron-Bruce says the long-gun registry isn’t solving any criminal issues in the country.
He says a private members bill will be voted on when Parliament starts again as a step to get rid of the long-gun registry.
Lobb says it’s been a large waste of taxpayers dollars so far and it hasn’t saved any lives or helped cut down on crime in Canada.
He says the focus should instead be on illegal handguns brought into Canada and more money should be spent towards police officers to help oversee the situation.
While it was the Liberal government who introduced the long-gun registry, Lobb says there are a number of Liberal MP’s who don’t support it.
He says a number of Northern Ontario MP’s even campaigned against the registry and there’s word they’re now being forced to toe the party line.
Lobb says it will be interesting to see how they vote on the issue when it comes up, and he hopes they stay true to their constituents who want the registry scrapped.
