Bruce Power has the support of Brockton in its quest to ship steam generators to Sweden.
Councillor Chris Peabody was the lone member of council to oppose the motion.
He is unhappy with the public consultation process by the Nuclear Safety Commission on the project.
A public meeting will be held later this month in Ottawa — but Peabody says that hardly qualifies as local consultation.
Peabody feels it should have taken place in a more central location allowing residents along the Great Lakes an opportunity to voice their concerns.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato however says Bruce Power’s safety record speaks for itself.
Bagnato says he has no problem with the project and he is confident public safety will not be an issue.
Bagnato says Bruce Power historically has always exercised extreme due diligence in all aspects of its operations.
