The streets in Port Elgin will be busy today.
The Grey-Bruce Labour Council will once again be putting on the Port Elgin Labour Day Parade and Family Fun Day.
The council is working in conjunction with the CAW Retirees.
President Dave Trumble says the idea of Labour Day is to celebrate what the labour force contributes to the community.
He says all of the Labour Council’s affiliates will be marching in the parade, including CUPE, OPSEU, the United Steelworkers Union, and many other community partners.
Trumble says the retirees will also be represented by people from all across the country.
He says their floats will be focusing on messages surrounding pensions.
The parade starts at 11 AM Monday at the Home Hardware at the north end of Port Elgin, and the Family Fun Day takes place afterward at the CAW Family Education Center.
Trumble says anybody can participate in the parade.
You just have to show up around 10 AM at the Home Hardware parking lot.
