It’s time once again to take your coffee break for a cause in Grey Bruce.
The Alzheimer Society of Grey Bruce is calling on people to volunteer to host coffee breaks to seek donations and awareness of the disease.
Bill Twaddle — the Community Development Coordinator — says it can be as easy as putting a jar and some information next to your coffee pot at work to an elegant wine and cheese party.
Twaddle says last year the Grey Bruce unit had over 300 coffee break hosts raising over 53-thousand dollars.
It was the second highest total ever raised in the area.
Twaddle says the chapter is in the top 12 of 38 chapters across the province for raising funds from the coffee breaks.
Twaddle stresses 93-percent of the money raised stays in Grey Bruce to help provide services and tools needed for caregivers, families and health care professionals.
He is amazed at the increase of people turning to the alzheimer society for early diagnosis and help in dealing with the disease.
The official start date for the coffee breaks is Thursday September 16th, but Twaddle says you can hold the coffee break whenever is best for your schedule.
Just pick up a kit at the Owen Sound office at 753 2nd Avenue East and the kit carries all the information you need to host a coffee break.
Bayshore Broadcasting is hosting a coffee break kickoff in the station parking lot in downtown Owen Sound on Friday September 10th at 9 AM.
